Recaro SRDs in custom (original BMW) Leather

The seats, custom covering, lumbar support, Recaro brackets and installation were around $2000. Before you have a cow, please note that I sold my OEM (in great condition) seats for just under $1000. This cuts the net cost of the new seats in half, resulting in only $1000 actually being spent.

My local Recaro dealer is Sid's Custom Upholstery in Mountain view. You can have the seats covered in pretty much any material, color, design or pattern available so long as you are willing to pay for it.

Regarding the seat brackets, the regular Recaro brackets are just too tall. I'm 6'0 and the height is just tolerable. My knees get in the way when steering and I can't see fitting in the car with a helmet on at all. Hugo said he can order shorter brackets, so we'll see how much things improve once they are installed.

UPDATE:

I received the shorter brackets within a couple of weeks and man what a difference! Once again, I enjoy ample head and leg room. Best of luck to anyone going the same route with SRD seats. Whether or not you choose to have them covered in leather or leave the stock cloth, you will not be disappointed.
